MakerWorld replacement-part guide

10 replacement parts to 3D print before replacing the appliance

Yes — a 3D print can rescue an appliance when the failed piece is a small, non-electrical plastic part such as a control knob, handle or vacuum attachment. The catch is fit and material: PrintYa prints PLA only, and PLA is not a general replacement for heat-exposed, food-contact, gas, electrical, door-lock or heavily load-bearing parts. Check the appliance model number, measure the old part, confirm the MakerWorld licence, and send one STL, 3MF or OBJ file for a manual review. PrintYa quotes from S$8, usually within one business day; nothing is charged until you approve. The ten examples below are real community models, not a guarantee that every file is suitable for PLA or your appliance.

Have a model you are allowed to use? Send one file for a quote. Include the appliance make, model and measurements in the notes so the review starts with the right fit question.

What makes a replacement part worth checking?

  1. It is the failed piece, not the safety system. Knobs, handles, clips and accessories are easier to evaluate than wiring, heating elements, gas controls, interlocks or structural parts.
  2. The environment is gentle. Prusa's PLA guidance says PLA is not for high-temperature or high-resistance use and can soften or deform above roughly 60°C. Heat, steam, detergent and food contact change the decision.
  3. You can identify the fit. Find the appliance model number, part number and old-part dimensions. A community model with a similar photo is only a starting point.

Singapore's Consumer Product Safety Office also advises following appliance manuals, switching appliances off before unplugging them and using qualified service personnel for installation and maintenance. A printed part should not be an excuse to work inside a live appliance.

The ten real MakerWorld examples

  1. MakerWorld Shark Lift-away vacuum replacement crevice tool
MakerWorld preview image, credited to puddlehopper's model page.

    01 / Vacuum accessory

Shark Lift-away vacuum crevice tool (A1 Mini)

    Designer: puddlehopper

PLA fit check: Good first check

A replacement nozzle can bring back a useful vacuum attachment when the original crevice tool is cracked, lost or no longer fits securely.

What the page says: The designer says the tool was measured from a broken Shark Lift-Away part, uses an angled profile with tree supports and should be checked against your own vacuum dimensions.

Before you print: Measure the base slots and check the exact vacuum model. Remove support carefully so the airway stays clear; a cracked nozzle edge can reduce suction.

Licence: The current page shows Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike; paid physical use may need the designer's permission.

  2. MakerWorld refrigerator replacement handle on a fridge door
MakerWorld preview image, credited to MartyPilsen's model page.

    02 / Refrigerator handle

Refrigerator Handle (AEG / Electrolux / Zanussi)

    Designer: MartyPilsen

PLA fit check: Good, but load-test it

A broken external handle does not always mean the refrigerator itself is finished; a matched replacement can restore the daily grip point.

What the page says: The model page names AEG, Electrolux and Zanussi refrigerators, gives 133 mm hole spacing and recommends supports plus higher infill for strength.

Before you print: Measure centre-to-centre hole spacing and the door surface. A handle sees repeated pulling force, so use the exact model and do not rely on it for a damaged door or loose mounting plate.

Licence: Check the current MakerWorld model-page licence before requesting a paid print.

  3. MakerWorld replacement washing-machine control knob

    03 / Washing-machine control

Washing Machine Knob Replacement – 3D Printable

    Designer: aidkvndfj

PLA fit check: Often a sensible PLA check

A cracked or missing selector knob is a small failure that can make a working washing machine feel unusable.

What the page says: The designer describes a Kenmore-specific knob that slides onto the original D-shaped shaft and says the design is intended to work with PLA.

Before you print: Confirm the appliance model, shaft profile, knob diameter and indicator position. Test the rotation gently before applying force to a stiff control.

Licence: Check the current MakerWorld model-page licence and keep permission for a paid physical print.

  4. MakerWorld replacement air-conditioner control knob
MakerWorld preview image, credited to Petilolz's model page.

    04 / Air-conditioner control

Replacement Knob for Astro AA-N9KM Air Conditioner

    Designer: Petilolz

    PLA fit check: Ask first

A missing air-conditioner knob is usually a small interface problem rather than a reason to replace the whole unit.

What the page says: This model is for the Astro AA-N9KM and is shaped for the original shaft. The designer suggests PETG or ABS for frequent use, while PrintYa offers PLA only.

Before you print: Send the exact model and file for a fit review, but do not assume the PLA version will match the durability of the material named on the source page.

Licence: The current page shows Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike; commercial or paid use may need permission.

  5. MakerWorld replacement Beko washing-machine door handle
MakerWorld preview image, credited to Tazio design's model page.

    05 / Washing-machine door

BEKO Washing Machine Door Handle (Replacement)

    Designer: Tazio design

PLA fit check: Caution — not a default PLA fit

A broken door handle can stop someone opening a machine even when the drum, motor and electronics are still fine.

What the page says: The model was designed for selected Beko washing machines, but its page recommends ABS or PETG, six walls and 40% infill, and warns that scaling may be needed for material shrinkage.

Before you print: This handle takes repeated pulling load. Because PrintYa prints PLA only, send the exact file for review rather than assuming the source settings make it suitable here.

  6. MakerWorld LG freezer drawer roller repair parts
MakerWorld preview image, credited to Kyle Matthies's model page.

    06 / Freezer drawer

LG Freezer Drawer Roller Repair (AHJ72909001)

    Designer: Kyle Matthies

PLA fit check: Caution — moving load

A failed roller or broken drawer-side mount can make a freezer drawer drag, tilt or stop opening cleanly.

What the page says: The repair set uses separate snap-in wheels and glue-on fork housings; the page gives an approximate complete envelope of 26 × 22 × 11.8 mm and a 19.6 mm wheel.

Before you print: Verify the drawer part number, axle fit and clearances. Test with an empty drawer first, and remember that a multi-piece repair set needs the exact file and scope confirmed in the one-file enquiry.

Licence: Check the current MakerWorld model-page licence and permission terms before commissioning a physical print.

  7. MakerWorld LG refrigerator shelf support replacement
MakerWorld preview image, credited to Dog'n'Beans's model page.

    07 / Refrigerator shelf support

    LG Fridge Shelf Support (155B | 4980JJ1016A)

    Designer: Dog'n'Beans

PLA fit check: Caution — load-bearing

A tiny shelf support can be the only broken piece stopping a crisper cover or shelf from sitting correctly.

What the page says: The page names part numbers 155B and 4980JJ1016A and lists a range of LG model families, while noting that the designer saw a small amount of lift on one print but the part still fit.

Before you print: Match the model and geometry exactly. Test with an empty shelf and light contents; use the original part or a qualified repair if the support carries a heavy glass shelf.

Licence: The current page shows Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike; paid physical use may need permission.

  8. MakerWorld GE dryer replacement control knob
MakerWorld preview image, credited to Partar's model page.

    08 / Tumble-dryer control

    GE DRYER KNOB WE1X1265

    Designer: Partar

PLA fit check: Ask first — heat and wear

A missing dryer knob can leave a working control panel difficult to use, but the appliance environment matters more than the part's small size.

What the page says: This model targets GE dryers using part number WE1X1265, separates the indicator from the knob and recommends PETG for heat resistance and durability.

Before you print: PrintYa offers PLA only, so do not treat this as an automatic match. Confirm the dryer model, surrounding temperature and shaft fit before considering a PLA version.

  9. MakerWorld replacement dishwasher rack wheel
MakerWorld preview image, credited to Pete's model page.

    09 / Dishwasher rack

    Wheel for dishwasher rack

    Designer: Pete

PLA fit check: Usually not a default PLA fit

A rack wheel is a tempting small repair because one failed wheel can make the whole lower basket scrape or jam.

What the page says: The model is a print-in-place lower-basket wheel listed for a Miele G6100 and other possible models; a page comment discusses a part printed in PETG.

Before you print: Dishwasher heat, water, detergent and rolling load make this a material-sensitive part. Match the rack and wheel geometry exactly, and prefer the original part if PLA is not suitable.

Licence: Check the current MakerWorld model-page licence before any paid physical print.

  10. MakerWorld dishwasher door lock replacement part
MakerWorld preview image, credited to Michau's model page.

    10 / Dishwasher door lock

Replacement Door Lock for a Dishwasher

    Designer: Michau

PLA fit check: OEM or qualified repair first

A broken latch can make an otherwise repairable dishwasher appear unusable, but a door lock is not an ordinary cosmetic replacement.

What the page says: The designer explicitly warns against regular PLA because of dishwasher temperatures and says the part was reprinted in PETG for stability.

Before you print: Do not rely on a PLA print for a door interlock or any part that affects safe operation. PrintYa can review the file, but a PLA-only quote may not be appropriate; use the original part or qualified service first.

Three checks before you request a print

  1. Send the right file. PrintYa accepts one STL, 3MF or OBJ file up to 50 MB, within a maximum 256 × 256 × 256 mm model envelope. If a model is a multi-piece set, say so in the notes.
  2. Keep the licence with the enquiry. MakerWorld pages can show non-commercial, attribution or other restrictions. Permission to download is not automatically permission to pay someone else to make it.
  3. Wait for the human review. A person checks the file and whether PLA is a sensible material before sending the Final Quote. Small prints start from S$8, the target reply is within one business day, and nothing is charged until you approve.

If the part is hot, food-contact, gas-related, electrical, safety-critical or heavily load-bearing, the right answer may be an original replacement or qualified repair rather than a PLA print.

Frequently asked questions

Can I print an appliance replacement part in PLA?

Sometimes. PLA can be a sensible first check for a light-duty, low-temperature, non-electrical external part such as a control knob or vacuum attachment. PrintYa prints PLA only, so heat-exposed, food-contact, gas, electrical, safety-interlock and heavily load-bearing parts may not be suitable.

How do I check whether a replacement part will fit my appliance?

Start with the appliance make, exact model number and old part number if available. Measure hole spacing, shaft shape, clips, clearances and the part that failed. Manufacturer parts finders also use the model number to surface compatible diagrams. Put those details in your notes with the one model file.

Can PrintYa print a MakerWorld model for me?

Only when the designer's current licence or your own permission allows a paid physical print. A free download is not automatically permission to sell, outsource or fulfil the print. Check the linked MakerWorld page before sending the file for a quote.

What about dishwasher, dryer or hot kitchen parts?

Treat them as a material and safety check, not an automatic PLA job. Several examples below explicitly recommend PETG or another higher-temperature material, while a door lock or gas-related part can affect safe operation. Use the original part or qualified repair support when the risk is unclear.

How much does it cost to print a replacement part?

Small prints are described as starting from S$8. PrintYa reviews one STL, 3MF or OBJ file up to 50 MB and sends a manually confirmed Final Quote, usually within one business day. Nothing is charged until you approve it; size, colour, quantity and fulfilment are confirmed in the conversation.
