10 useful household items to 3D print

Yes — some of the best household 3D prints are small fixes: a box for batteries, a shelf-mounted kitchen-roll holder, a door catch, or a rack that makes one cupboard easier to use. This list curates ten real MakerWorld models with their own model-page images, designer credit and practical print notes. They are ideas, not a licence to sell the designs: several pages show Standard Digital File or non-commercial restrictions. If you want PrintYa to print a downloaded model, check the designer's current terms first. PrintYa can review one STL, 3MF or OBJ file up to 50 MB, in PLA, and quote manually from S$8.

The ten useful models

  1. MakerWorld print-in-place hinged storage box
Image from the MakerWorld model page.

    01 / Small storage

    Print-in-Place Hinged Storage Box

    Designer: SkampyCraft

A compact box for batteries, electronic components, workshop parts, tools and other small items that normally disappear into a drawer.

What the page says: The MakerWorld description says it prints as one piece without supports and gives approximate internal dimensions of 139 × 79 × 54 mm.

Before you print: The model page lists PLA and a support-free print, but check the latest version and whether the one-piece box suits your printer setup.

Licence: Standard Digital File License; the page also points commercial users to the designer's membership. Check the current model page and get permission where needed.

  2. MakerWorld under-sink door organiser
Image from the MakerWorld model page.

    02 / Cupboard organisation

    Under-Sink Door Organiser

    Designer: FreeWorldGreg

A discreet little shelf or support for making use of the inside of a cupboard door; the model page shows dishwasher tablets and sponges as examples.

What the page says: This is the kind of small print that can reclaim an awkward corner without drilling into the cupboard itself.

Before you print: Measure the door, hinges and clearance before sending the file; the photo is not a substitute for checking your own cupboard.

Licence: Standard Digital File License; paid physical use needs the designer's permission. Check the current model page and get permission where needed.

  3. MakerWorld vertical dinner plate stand
Image from the MakerWorld model page.

    03 / Kitchen storage

    Dinner Plate – Vertical Stand

    Designer: Remixed by Will

A vertical rack for plates, useful when a cupboard shelf is tall but narrow or when stacks are awkward to lift.

What the page says: The current model page lists versions for 2, 4, 6, 8 or 10 plates, so choose the size that matches your cupboard and plate diameter.

Before you print: Check the plate profile and the rack's stability in your cupboard; a different plate shape may not fit even when the count is right.

Licence: Standard Digital File License; do not treat the free download as permission for a paid print. Check the current model page and get permission where needed.

  4. MakerWorld under-cabinet kitchen roll holder
Image from the MakerWorld model page.

    04 / Pantry organisation

Kitchen Roll Holder – baking paper, cling film etc

Designer: GK Design – Grzegorz Kolasa

An under-shelf or under-cabinet holder for kitchen rolls, foil, cling film and baking paper, keeping the worktop clear.

What the page says: The page gives a 55 × 108 × 248 mm size and a 49 mm inner diameter for each roll slot; it can use tape or screws.

Before you print: The designer calls this a challenging print and recommends strong bed adhesion; plan the mounting method before you print.

Licence: Standard Digital File License; the page points commercial users to the designer's membership. Check the current model page and get permission where needed.

  5. MakerWorld stackable desktop organiser with drawers
Image from the MakerWorld model page.

    05 / Desk organisation

    Stackable Desktop Organizer with Drawers

    Designer: zhou795

A modular way to sort stationery, screws, craft supplies, cables and other small desk or hobby items.

What the page says: The page lists a 190 × 112 × 40 mm single-layer size and says a newer version adds card slots, rails and long drawers.

Before you print: Confirm which version and drawer combination you want; a stackable system is only useful if the modules fit the space you have.

Licence: Standard Digital File License; ask before using a paid printing service. Check the current model page and get permission where needed.

  6. MakerWorld 3D printed door catch
Image from the MakerWorld model page.

    06 / Light-duty repair

    Door Catch

    Designer: Rene Czerner

A small catch for cabinets, doors or other moving furniture parts in the home, workshop or garage.

What the page says: The designer describes a screw-mounted, support-free design intended for everyday use, but it is still a light-duty printed part rather than a safety device.

Before you print: Use the right screws and test the catch gently; do not rely on a PLA part for a child-safety, fire-safety or load-bearing application.

Licence: Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike; paid printing is not automatically allowed. Check the current model page and get permission where needed.

  7. MakerWorld ratcheted toothpaste tube squeezer
Image from the MakerWorld model page.

    07 / Bathroom helper

    Ratcheted Toothpaste Tube Squeezer

    Designer: Remixed by Roland Deschain

A tiny bathroom tool that helps push the last toothpaste out of a tube instead of leaving it folded and half-used.

What the page says: The remix notes a ratchet mechanism and says support material must be removed from the bottom of the main tube for it to work correctly.

Before you print: Treat the mechanism as a fit-sensitive print; clean out support carefully and test it on the tube you actually use.

Licence: Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike; request permission before paying someone to print it. Check the current model page and get permission where needed.

  8. MakerWorld automatic bottle watering drip irrigation system
Image from the MakerWorld model page.

    08 / Plant care

Automatic Bottle Watering Drip Irrigation System

    Designer: Remixed by xyz.thought

A bottle-fed dripper for keeping potting soil moist when you are away or when a plant needs steadier watering.

What the page says: The model page reports a test with a 1.5-litre bottle lasting up to four days and lists versions for bottles from 0.5 to 2 litres.

Before you print: That duration is the designer's test, not a guarantee; check the thread, bottle fit and water flow with your plant before relying on it.

Licence: Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike; paid use needs permission. Check the current model page and get permission where needed.

  9. MakerWorld beverage can dispenser for a refrigerator
Image from the MakerWorld model page.

    09 / Fridge organisation

Beverage Can Dispenser – 12 oz

    Designer: mhparsons

A first-in, first-out fridge organiser for standard 12 oz / 355 ml cans, with a cover option for stacking.

What the page says: The model has five-can and six-can versions, splits into two keyed halves for a standard printer, and the designer prints it in PLA.

Before you print: Measure your shelf and cans; the model page's dimensions are for its stated 12 oz format, not every can sold in Singapore.

Licence: Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial; paid physical use is not automatic. Check the current model page and get permission where needed.

  10. MakerWorld egg dispenser for ten eggs
Image from the MakerWorld model page.

    10 / Dry storage

    Egg Dispenser for 10 Eggs

    Designer: Remixed by imlostau

A compact dispenser that presents eggs one at a time instead of leaving a carton loose on a shelf.

What the page says: The page describes capacity for up to 10 eggs from small to large, up to approximately 65 × 45 mm, and recommends PLA with a brim.

Before you print: Measure your eggs and keep the design clean and dry; this article does not certify a 3D-printed surface for food contact.

Licence: Creative Commons Attribution; keep the required attribution and check the current page before commissioning a print. Check the current model page and get permission where needed.

Three checks before you request a print

  1. Check the licence. A free MakerWorld download may restrict paid physical prints, remixes or commercial use. Keep the designer's permission or commercial licence with your enquiry.
  2. Check the fit. Measure the cupboard, shelf, door, can, egg, tube or bottle the model is meant to work with. A picture can show the idea, not your exact dimensions.
  3. Check the use. PLA is suitable for many light-duty organisers, but do not assume a normal 3D print is food-safe, dishwasher-safe, microwave-safe, heat-safe or load-bearing.

PrintYa's public service is intentionally narrow: one STL, 3MF or OBJ file up to 50 MB, a maximum 256 × 256 × 256 mm envelope, and PLA only. Send the file and notes; a person reviews it and confirms whether the job is printable before quoting.

Frequently asked questions

Can PrintYa print a MakerWorld model for me?

Only if the designer's current licence or your own permission allows a paid physical print. MakerWorld pages often show restrictions such as Standard Digital File, Attribution-Noncommercial, or Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike. Send one model file and its licence context; PrintYa will review the request before quoting.

Are these household models free to use commercially?

Not automatically. The models in this list have different licences, and several require permission or a commercial membership before you charge for a printed version. A free download is not the same as permission to sell, outsource or fulfil a print.

Are PLA household prints food-safe or heat-safe?

Do not assume that a normal PLA print is food-safe, dishwasher-safe, microwave-safe, or suitable for hot liquids. Use these ideas for dry, indirect-contact or organisational jobs unless the designer and material supplier explicitly confirm the intended use. PrintYa prints PLA only and can discuss the file, but does not certify a household product for food or heat use.

Will these models fit PrintYa's service limits?

Each PrintYa enquiry contains one STL, 3MF or OBJ file up to 50 MB, within a maximum 256 × 256 × 256 mm model envelope. Multi-part models need separate consideration, and the final printability and price are confirmed manually before payment.

How much does it cost to 3D print a household item?

Small prints are described as starting from S$8. The actual price depends on the model, size, quantity, colour and fulfilment details, so PrintYa checks the file and sends a Final Quote within one business day. Nothing is charged until you approve it.
